ThePYOGalleryhasopeneditsgalleryspacein1981intheheartofSeoul,Korea.Sincethen,thegalleryhasgainedreputationforexhibitingcutting-edgeModernandContemporaryfineartinallgenres.WorksbymostnotableartistsintheKoreanandinternationalfineartscenelikeNamJunePaik,Tschang-YeulKim,UfanLee,YueMinJun,ZengFanZhi,JiDachun,HoonKwak,SufanOh,FrankStella,DavidNash,RobertRauschenberg,JamesRosenquist,RufinoTamayoandbyartistswithgreatpotentialsuchasLeeYongDeok,ParkSung-Tae,ShinChi-Hyun,ChaMin-Young,Tamen,LiHuihavegracedourwalls.
ThestartofAuctionartsinc,internetauctioncompany,in1997allowedPYOGallerytogainresourcestobecomethefirstcreatorofcybermuseumsinKoreaformajorKoreanandChineseartists.Withgrowingresources,PYOGalleryhasplacedintenseeffortinpromotingAsianartworldwideandsucheffortsallowedthegallerygreatinternationalrecognition,increasinginternationalartistlineandcollectorbase.Inadditiontocuratingexclusivemonthlyexhibitions,thePYOgallery,withover1,300artworksinstock,annuallycuratesandexportsfinearttravelingexhibitionsforothermajormuseumsandgalleriesworldwide.Astheinternationalexpectationsgrew,itbecamenecessaryforourgallerytoopenanartconsultingofficeinLosAngelesin2003andthe3rdexhibitionspaceinChinain2006.InMarchof2006,PYOBEIJINGwaslaunchedinanewartdistrict,ChaoyangLiquorFactoryinBeijing,allowingPYOGallerytopromoteAsianartmoreaffectively.
InSeptemberof2006,tocomplywiththeever-growingartinvestmentinterestinKorea,PYOGalleryandGOODMORNINGSHINHANSECURITIESsuccessfullylaunchedtheveryfirstartfundinKoreawith7.5milliondollarasset.
In2007,acknowledgingthespacelimitationofthe20yearoldbuildingspace,PYOgalleryhasmoveditslocationtoanewsophisticatedculturalzoneinNamsan,sharingtheareawiththeNationalMuseumofKoreaandtheLeeumSamsungMuseumofArt.
PYOGalleryisproudtobringanewexcitingenergytotheareaandthegallerybelievesthatthenewlocationwillallowdevelopingitsexhibitionprogramatanevenmorethrillingpacelocallyandinternationally.
