黎明的学养深厚，技艺全面，山水、花鸟、入物，工笔、写意、兼工带写，乃至泼墨、泼彩，均有不凡表现。作品中花鸟虫鱼生活在山林河流溪涧之间，增添了野情野趣和生命力。画家尤善画孔雀，南方特有禽鸟在他的笔下金裳翠羽，熠熠生辉，精妙之极。画家喜画松鹰，造型准确生动，笔墨和色彩浑然一体，将岭南画派花鸟画提升至一个新的层面。他的山水也饱含深厚的情感，从而创造出有着自然美更具有人格美的景色。黎明的水墨写意山水画以情韵取胜，透过细致绵长的情韵，展现出豁达的气势。画家善于用水、用墨和用色，传承岭南画派撞水和撞粉的画法加以巧妙变化，画面更多突出水、墨、色的效果。流动的水分、大块的泼墨和泼彩掌握得当，有着极大的难度，黎明举重若轻，从容应对，水、墨、色的干、湿、浓、淡，生发出无穷妙趣。这种突出水、墨、色效果的画作与注重干笔和积墨的写意山水画一样，山川浑厚，草木华滋，且更有南国风光的特色，表现出画家多年修炼获得炉火纯青的艺术功力。
